The Amalfi Coast, Italy: What to Expect

As we prepare...

Ever since I saw the movie 'Under the Tuscan Sun' and saw Diane Lane standing on the shore of Positano, I have been dying to go to the Amalfi Coast of Italy. Actually, Italy has aways been a dream destination for me, but I had wanted to go to Sicily because Mom's family is from there. You know, Going to the Home Land... But, Momma hasn't been able to find out much about where in Sicily they were - and it's a pretty big Island. So, when she brought up going on a trip - just the 2 of us - after some consideration of all the places I haven't been, I took the plunge and picked The Amalfi Coast.

As soon as I made my decision, we began hours of looking at vacation homes and hotels in all the little towns along the coast. We read a ton of reviews and got it narrowed down to a few places. Momma even emailed a previous guest at one of the hotels. He had a review on TripAdvisor.com, and the owner of the hotel referenced him in one of her emails. After reading his email and his travel blog (where I got the idea to do this one), Hotel Margherita in Praiano was the winner. It looks like it is going to be wonderful. We are staying in the room with the largest balcony, overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. I can just see me and Momma now, sitting out there on the balcony each night, with a glass of wine, going over what we did that day. I just can't wait!

We will be leaving Monday, October 17th and getting back on Tuesday, October 25th. I have a feeling that it really won't be long enough...
